November Newsletter
Dear Parents, ALOs, and Friends of the USAFA Parents Club of Indiana, It’s hard to believe we are nearly halfway through the fall semester and looking forward to the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. It is always special to see the fourth class cadets, in full service dress and with wide smiles, as they arrive at the airport for their first visit home since they left for in-processing. Hopefully you have made or are in the process of making your flight reservations, remembering to follow the Academy’s restrictions regarding departure and return times. Our fall meeting is Saturday, November 8th, at Grissom Air Reserve Base in North Central Indiana, 15 miles north of Kokomo, on U.S. Highway 31. This is our first attempt to better accommodate our members who live in areas other than Central Indiana. While at the base, we will also have the opportunity to tour their indoor museum exhibits and 25 aircraft in the outdoor display. For more information regarding the museum, go to www.grissomairmuseum.com. We will also be packing final exams goodie boxes for ALL Indiana cadets whose families have joined the club. If you can’t attend the meeting but would like to contribute goodies, please contact the nearest club officer. Our secretary, Terry Finster, is putting together a directory which will be available at the meeting. All club members will be included in the directory, so if you’d still like to join and receive this valuable information, please send your membership form and check to Jane Peterson by October 15, 2008. After that date, we will be unable to include you in this year’s directory. A membership form is included in this mailing. At the meeting we will be sharing specific information concerning the very special events which each cadet class will encounter during the year, including Recognition for the Class of 2012; the opportunity to bring a car to USAFA for the Class of 2011; ordering class rings, choosing a job, and loan details for the Class of 2010, and 100’s Night for the Firsties. There will be something for everyone, so please plan to attend! Also, mark your calendars for the All Academy Ball, hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy Parents Club, on Saturday, December 27th, at Primo’s South in Indianapolis. This event is a wonderful way to enjoy the holidays, with dinner, dancing, and special gifts for the cadets and midshipmen. Speaking of the holidays, don’t forget what great gifts our afghans and coasters make for family and friends. You can download an order form at our website, http://www.usafaparents.com. We look forward to seeing you November 8th! Rick & Susan Harding Presidents, USAFA Parents Club of Indiana
